We need to get the save the date cards mailed out. This volunteer event is easy, we stamp cards, and stamp cards, and stamp cards. If a few people show it takes a while, but if we turn out strong it&rsquo;ll take an hour!  <br /><br />Head into the building, sign in, hang a right, hang a left into the next hallway, keep walking and look for a sign pointing you into the room we&rsquo;ll be using. Expect a pretty good turnout.  <br /><br />I&rsquo;ll wait up front until 5:30 PM, so arrive early and you&rsquo;ll have a pal to chat with until it kicks off.  <br /><br />Do you have questions? This is one of my favorite organizations because they bring creative solutions to cure homelessness in Oklahoma City. They have <strong>five children</strong> in their supportive housing program in need of school supplies. I have each of the lists from their schools with helpful hints listed, such as favorite colors, themes, etc. This will really make your job of finding the school supplies easy.<br /><br />Please shoot an email to rexbarrett@loveokc.com ASAP as Oklahoma Public Schools begin on August 1st. Sometimes we do the art and sometimes we volunteer for events that help fund the arts. This event will help <a href="http://www.cityartscenter.org" rel="external">City Arts Center</a> raise funds for their fantastic programming. I'm kinda excited about volunteering with you and look forward to meeting / hanging out with you through the evening.<br /><br />Thank you so much for helping with deadCENTER! We're going to have a great time kicking off this film festival. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing, shoes that don't stop, and spray yourself down with some sunblock.<br /> <br />Please meet me at 6:00p just in front of Red Prime Steak between 4th and 5th streets on Broadway. (see what I look like at http://facebook.com/rexbarrett) There will be about 20 of us helping through the evening and I'll pass out assignments as people arrive. Please be flexible through the evening! Some tasks include setting up chairs, monitoring needs of festival attenders, running a very light security detail for a street performer, working with the family of the Kings of Leon, and tons of other stuff we'll only discover as the night goes on.<br /><br />We will host the event between 4th and 5th streets on Broadway in downtown OKC. Your best bet, I learned from last year, is to find parking along either 4th or 5th, just off of Broadway, at a meter. Don't worry, they'll be free after 6:00p, just for you.<br /> <br />The film actually begins at 9:00p and will last 87 minutes. After having a good chuckle over the word celebrity, I said I&rsquo;d do it.<br /><br />Here&rsquo;s the deal, we&rsquo;re raising money for disaster relief, we&rsquo;re eating fine food, we&rsquo;re sipping fine drinks, and we&rsquo;ll party into the evening.
